Baton Rouge |
- There is a wonderful size friendly exercise class (Woman of Size
Class) and the staff is very friendly and attentive. http://womenofsize.sizepositive.com
- The Women of Size Fitness Class meets Tuesday and Thursday nights
at 7:05 p.m. It's taught by Melissa Taylor, a BBW who is also an
ACE Certified Fitness Instructor. The facilities are size friendly,
with the exception of the chairs in the waiting area don't work
well for supersize women. They often have Women's Fitness Center
t-shirts to a size 8x.
- You don't have to join the fitness center to be in this class.
It costs $40 for an 8-week session. You can join at any point during
the session.
- NEW! There is now a Women of Size Water Aerobics Class! It's also
taught by Melissa Taylor, who is certified to teach water aerobics.
The class meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:35 p.m. You
must be a member of the fitness center to join this class.

His waiting room has armless chairs, and he never makes
weight the primary reason for any problems I'm having. |

Comfortable seats, will not give you any trouble if you
do not want to be weighed, and will treat the problem, and not focus
the entire visit on weight loss.

I go to her with another supersize friend. She is always
respectful and size-friendly. So is her nurse, who is also a BBW. The
table can be a little hard to get on, but they have a special table
that's more like a chair. Ask about it if you have problems getting
on the table.

Dr. Field is a diabetic himself, so he understands
it on a personal level. He's size friendly, and his nurse Sherry is
wonderful! Several of my
friends go to him, and he got a large blood pressure cuff as soon as
we started going there. He can also be stern if he feels he needs to
be, but overall I'm very pleased with his abilities. |

Dr. Le's waiting room in Baton Rouge is not
hip-friendly, but the staff is nice, and Dr. Le is great. He's a small
man, but when I
went to him for treatment for a painful case of plantar-fasciitis, his
conservative approach to treatment gave me immediate relief. (He tape
an arch support to my foot, and ordered prescription inserts, which
have been a tremendous help.) The chairs in the exam room are very size
friendly and comfortable. |
Dr. Carol Patin, OB-GYN

She's very understanding and sees people,
not sizes. She is also latex-allergic so her office is latex-free, if
you're sensitive to it too. |

and a great doctor. |

I go here for mamograms. The seating is size-friendly.
I don't know if they have large gowns. I just wore a blouse that buttoned
up the front. You can also park right at the door. They're open one
Saturday a month. I was in and out quickly. |

I don't think they have one chair in the restaurant
with arms and I find their chairs "roomy" by most restaurant standards.
Have always felt warmly welcomed. |

Generously sized booths. All chairs are armless.
Great food, too! |

They have armless, sturdy chairs and there is adequate
room around the tables. We had a group of ten BBWs there and had plenty
of room.

Will provide armless chairs on request if there are none
at the tables. Very accommodating. |
