Honda Says "No" to Seat Belts for Larger Passengers

Dear Administrator

I am writing in support of Elizabeth Fisher's petition to amend Federal Regulation SEC.571.209 Standard No. 209, Seat Belt Assemblies.

In my State (Washington) there is a law requiring that I wear a seatbelt. I am a law abiding citizen and I want to comply. But MANY cars out there do NOT FIT. Look around! No matter how you might feel about it MANY people in this country are larger than the arbitrary 215 pounds.

I have been able to find cars manufactured by people that care about the safety of their consumers. But you can't control every situation. I have rented cars where there were no choices available where I was plainly not SAFE. I have ridden in the cars of friends where there was no way I could fasten the belt.

We require so many safety features to be built in to todays cars and even toys. Why on earth would we not extend it to provide for so many people living in this country today.

Please give this issue the consideration it deserves.

Sincerely,

Alicia (& Robert) Sandhei-Kuro
