Honda Says "No" to Seat Belts for Larger Passengers

Dear Senator Thurmond:

Current federal regulations only require car manufacturers to make seat belts that fit people up to 215 lbs, even though there are laws in 49 states that seat belts must be worn by people of all sizes.

As your constituent, I am requesting that you write the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on my behalf in support of Elizabeth Fisher's petition to amend Federal Regulation 49CFR571.209, so that any person who fits in a vehicle will be able to fasten their seat belt.

The petition is at http://www.ifisher.com/nhtsa/petition.html, and the current federal regulation is at http://www.ifisher.com/cfr.htm.

Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Katherine M. Aaron
